DETAILS
Auckland Dragon Boat Association is excited to host our 16th paddle camp weekend for the paddling fraternity where paddlers, steerers and coaches can fine-tune their technique.
This is an opportunity to paddle round one of New Zealand's most iconic pristine lakes, participate in paddling workshops from a variety of coaches, meet and paddle with loads of paddlers from all teams, enjoy camping with like minded people and have a memorable weekend doing what you love.
Kai Iwi Lakes are only 2 hours 55 minures away from Auckland.
Campsite:
- We have booked out the Promenade Point campsite, which is separate from the main campsite.
- Toilets and drinking water ar available at the camp ground, but there are no showers. However, showers are available from the far side campground - a short drive away.
- These a nonpowered campsite only
Last Supermarket
- Make sure you're prepared and have all you need. The last supermarket is in Dargaville, which is a 30 minute drive each way
- Talk with your team mates for cooking arrangements and shared meals
Car Pooling
- We reccommend car pool to save on costs and parking at the campsite.
- If you are driving, please make sure you enter your Number Plate in your registration
Registrations
- Registrations will open on 1st September 2024
- Registrations will close on Saturday 1st Febraury or when the event is fully booked
- You may book for multiple people, but please ensure you state everyones full name
- This is usually a sell out event, so book in fast.

Costs and Payments
- The ADBA has booked the whole campsite and are required to pay upfront, so this year, there is a flat fee for the campsite of $30 per person for up to 2 nights plus a $40 paddler fee.
- If you wish to lead a coaching session, the paddle fee will be waived.
- All payments must be made directly to the ADBA by 1st February 2025
Coach a Clinic
If you would like to coach a clinic, please detail your interest and what you would like to coach in your registration. This could be anything from teaching newbies, coaching 2nd/3rd year paddlers, or a 'thrashing' session, general paddle techniques, one on one sessions, focus on strokes, engine room or the back of the boat, off water physical training such as stretches or bootcamp style, or off water chats.

Friday, 14th February
- 7.00pm(ish) - 5km Sunset paddle
Saturday, 15th February (all times are approximates)
- 7.00am(ish) - 5km Dawn paddle
- 9.30am - 12.30pm - Training Workshops
- 12.30pm - 1.30pm - Lunch Break
- 1.30pm - 3.30mpm - Training workshops
- 3.30pm - 4.00pm - Fun race and packdown (all hands)
- 6.00pm - Swim and beersies
- Evening - Team skits at the big top marquee followed by mingles and a dance party
