Record Numbers Turn Out for Auckland Dragon Boat Association's Free 'Give it a Go' Days

Published Sun 20 Oct 2024

The Auckland Dragon Boat Association (ADBA) saw its biggest-ever turnout at this year’s free 'Give it a Go' days, held on 6th and 20th October at Z Pier, Westhaven Marina. People from across Auckland took the opportunity to try dragon boating for the first time, making this the most successful Give it a Go campaign to date.

Dragon boating is a team sport where crews paddle together to power long boats through the water. It’s a fantastic way to stay active while being part of a team that works together both on and off the water. Whether you want to stay fit, meet new people, or challenge yourself, dragon boating has something to offer.

“Our clubs are still actively looking for new recruits, and now is the perfect time to get involved,” says Holly Claeys, Chair of ADBA. “With summer just around the corner, it’s a great time to start, and there’s no need for any prior experience - everyone is welcome.”

For those who missed the 'Give it a Go' days, it’s not too late to join one of the Auckland crews. No matter your fitness level or background, the Auckland Dragon Boat Association have crews ready to welcome new members.
