  • Safety briefing before getting on the water.

Paddles and life jackets are provided (life jackets must be worn at all times).

Race Night – 29th November 2024

Race night consists of two 200m heats and a final. All teams should meet at the toilet block near the boat ramp at Z Pier, Westhaven Marina, by 4:45 PM to prepare for the races. You’ll be competing in the same 20-man boats used during your training.

Your team should wear sports gear, but you’re welcome to customise your uniforms. Whether it’s corporate t-shirts or fun themed costumes, the choice is yours!

Prize Giving will be held after the event with some fantastic prizes to be won. More details about prize giving will be provided in your registration pack.

Safety Information

Dragon boating is a water sport, and safety is our top priority. All paddlers must wear appropriate clothing. Heavy clothing such as hoodies, jerseys, or track pants is not allowed. We recommend wearing sports gear, with light, windproof or waterproof jackets, hats, and sunglasses as needed. Make sure your team dresses appropriately for the weather conditions.

The ADBA operates under a Maritime New Zealand-approved Safety Operating Procedure. All paddlers must be able to swim 50m and wear life jackets, which will be provided. A safety briefing will be conducted before each race, and qualified safety officers, along with a support boat, will be on standby.

Waivers and Next of Kin Information

The Safety Waiver and Next of Kin (NOK) forms will be provided once your registration is confirmed. All paddlers must read and sign the safety waivers and provide NOK details. The team manager is responsible for ensuring these forms are completed and submitted to the ADBA before your first training session.
